Moving Fragile Items – How Movers Do It?
When you are moving the most delicate part is packing the delicate items. You must be worried about the things that the items can break or get damaged in the course of transport. The packed boxes are handled a lot of time by many people while moving, therefore, the fragile items must be packed so well to prevent breakage and damage.
Plan ahead of time. It takes time to pack up precious quartz, porcelain, and others. Now is not the time to be rushed. If you're not recruiting movers, start well ahead of time to pack these things rightly and determine if they'll be moved by truck or by car.
Make sure you have the correct equipment. The movers use good quality moving boxes of different sizes, wrapping paper for packing, bubble wrap, cardboard, tape and scissors. A large table is essential for packing all the items – this is also considered an important tool.
Put a sticker on it! Getting the boxes with your fragile products clearly marked as “fragile” will make it easy for the movers treat them more carefully.
You must know what items must be packed and how to do it. A TV and your grandmother's utensil sets are fragile items, they require very different packing techniques. Make sure you know how to pack every item properly and plan ahead of time so you don't run out of bubble wrap.
For heavy and fragile items, use smaller boxes. The small boxes are simpler to handle and to move around with them while traveling. Be sure to fill in any excess room with plenty of padding.
Use extra tape at the bottom. The extra tape strips will protect the box better and prevent bowing under the content weight.
Cover hollow objects with packing paper. To help soften vibrations, fill glasses, jars, and any other products with hollow spaces with packing paper.
Wrap each object and piece separately. Anything from glasses and plates to delicate decorative objects should be wrapped separately according to scale, shape, and content. Remove any loose objects, such as lids, and wrap them individually.
Many people wrap their delicate objects in old sheets, newsprint, thin blankets, or even paper towels. These aren't the right options. Newsprint can be filthy, which means you'll have to do even more laundry in the new home. The paper towels aren't very sturdy or dependable. Old towels are prone to slipping and cannot be sealed with tape, which is important for safe packing of your treasures. You will not be sorry if you invest in the right equipment.
Finally, make sure your movers are mindful of any boxes that hold delicate objects. Many movers have specialist boxes for delicate things on hand, like dishes, mirror, frames and more. See us at On Call Moving for the items at your home that need special care and attention while relocating.
